5 CLIB students won an award in Zurich!

Expand-it Enterprise in the JA-YE Europe Trade Fair 2012

Expand-it Enterprise was outstanding in representing Portugal in the JA-YE Europe Trade Fair 2012, held in Zurich on the 29th March.

Five CLIB students will represent Portugal in the European Trade Fair which will be held in Zurich

Our students in Form 10 were selected, amongst over 160 mini-enterprises in Portugal, to participate in the National Trade Fair, held in Lisbon on the 16th March.

Chinese New Year

On Chinese New Year's Day, 23rd January, Form 4 students presented an assembly to Lower
School.

Lecture given by Dr. Richard Linnehan

On January the 11th around 50 students from different form years went to Universidade do Minho to participate on a lecture given by Dr. Richard Linnehan, one of the most experienced astronauts working for the United States Space Agency (NASA).

Science Trip

On 23rd November, Lower School students set out for the Department of Science at Minho University.

In order to continue to reinforce the integration process of all students in Form 6, and with the aim of providing a motivational boost to the start of the new term,

The Avalon Theatre company, Portugal's premier English language theatre company for performances to young people, came to Braga on 15th November.

Fair Trade Debate

As a build up to humanities week, held on the week of the 14th of November, Form 8 explored the issues revolving around the Fair Trade initiative, and the implications of this initiative, both positive and negative, for the developing world.

Inter-House Quiz

The week beginning on the 21st November was a week full of suspense and hard work for all the students who represented their houses by participating in the inter-house quiz.

Junior Achievement Programme

Junior Achievement is a non-profit organisation that focuses on inspiring and preparing young people to succeed in a global economy.

Workshop delivered by the Kaizen Institute

As a ‘kick off’ to Humanities Week, held on the week beginning on the 14th of November, Business Studies students from Forms 9 to 12 attended a very challenging workshop delivered by the Kaizen Institute, the pioneer, innovator and leading operational excellence consultancy.

Human Rights Workshop

On Friday the 9th of December the Forum students took part in a joint workshop delivered by CIVITAS and the Red Cross on Human Rights.

The story of Rudolph

The students of Pre-Prep and Prep organized a simple theatre production based on the story of Rudolph.

CLIB took a top class entourage to the longest established and largest ModelUnited Nations conference on the Iberian Peninsula.

Visit to the Côa Valley Archaeological Park

On the 15th and 16th of November, pupils from forms 5 to 7 went on an adventurous study trip to discover the wonders of the Côa Valley Archaeological Park (Parque Arqueológico do Vale do Côa).

The Grouchy Ladybug

The children in Reception presented an assembly on the 21st of November. They told the story of «The Grouchy Ladybug».

BRAMUN 2011

The third Braga Model United Nations was a massive success. The calibre of the resolutions, the vibrant debate and the relevance of most interventions contributed to make the whole experience a valuable and unforgettable mark in our students' lives.

Fashion Show

On Friday, 21st October Clib hosted a fashion show to raise money for Humanitarian Aid. We had over 75 students as models and raised about 800 Euros. All the children did a fantastic job and worked very hard to contribute to such a great show.

Funny Assembly

On Monday, 19th September, Lower School teachers presented a dramatisation of the classic children?s story 'The Three Little Pigs'.

Celebrating Halloween

As is our tradition at CLIB, Lower School students celebrated Halloween on the last day of half term, 28th October.

To complement the History curriculum, a school trip related to the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods was organised,

ABC of Surgery week

During the last week of September, our students were invited to participate in a talk and a series of workshops integrated in the ABC of Surgery week, organized by Minho University.

Exciting adventure to Gêres

On the 23th of September, forms 9, 10, 11 and 12 plus teachers, left on an exciting adventure to Gêres.

Cycling for Charity

On Friday, 7th October Mr. Healy, Mr. McEvoy and Mr. Davidson will cycle from Braga to Santiago de Compostela, arriving on the afternoon of the 8th October.

Cambodia Symbol Pin

Our creative Forum students have come up with yet another exiting fundraising initiative to raise money for Cambodia. They have designed and produced a symbol for the Cambodia cause (see photograph) and transformed the symbol into an attractive pin.

Golden time

In honour of Literature Week a “round table” discussion about the pleasure of reading was organised under the title “Hang Gliding - Poetry and Other Free Flights”.

Geography Fieldwork - Estremadura

Form 9 students went on a fieldtrip to Portuguese Estremadura where they did fieldwork on industry, carboniferous landscapes, tourism and coastal dynamics.

Forms 3 and 4 visited the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library

Due to the fact that it was Literature Week, a time dedicated to reading and writing, Forms 3 and 4 visited the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library, where they were able to get to know an important Braga cultural institution and realised how important reading, and the promotion of it, is.

CLIB supports schools in Cambodia

The Cambodian Project of which our students, within the Houses of Apollo, Aphrodite and Athena, were immensely supportive, has now been concluded.

Famous fables

In order to conclude and consolidate the work they did on fables, Form 3 were challenged to dramatise two fables by the three most acknowledged fabulists: La Fontaine, Aesop and Phaedrus.

Ulysses' journey

As part of their work on “Ulisses” by Maria Alberta Menéres, Form 6 completed a group project which involved constructing a model, where the hard journey of the Greek hero was mapped.

London Trip

Students from Form 8 at CLIB, CLIC and CLIP participated in the annual trip to London at the start of May.

In order to celebrate `Valentine's Day', the Form 3 and 4 students heard the most beautiful and tragic love story: the story of Pedro and Inês, two people that are part of our national history.

In their Portuguese lessons, after reading, the Form 3 students analysed and interpreted “Children of all colours” by Luísa Ducla Soares, and participated in a cooperative project about `Multiculturality'.

Compal Air street basketball competition

A first place (infantis masculinos), a second place (iniciados femininos) and two third places (iniciados masculinos and juvenis femininos) were the best results CLIB proudly achieved at the 3x3 Compal Air street basketball competition.

Students in Form 5 that make up the CLIB Percussion Orchestra, participated in the show 'Bombos com Alma' held at 'Teatro Circo', on Sunday, January 9.

Exhibition: The World of Dinosaurs

On January 19, students belonging to the Lower School classes and Form 5 and Form 6 went to Guimarães to visit the exhibition: The World of Dinosaurs.

World's Best 1st Language Portuguese Student

Pedro Jorge, a student at CLIB was awarded the accolade of best Portuguese Language student (mother tongue) by the University of Cambridge Examination board for his outstanding achievement in the IGCSE examinations in June 2010.

Assembly: 3rd of December

On the 3rd of December Mr. Tiago Machado presented the Upper School assembly. The latter was divided into two parts, in order to talk about two important issues.

This took place on the 16th of December. It is without doubt one of the high points in the school calendar and it always signals an emotional end to the autumn term.

On 7th December Form 4 gave a fantastic performance of the classic story The Wizard of Oz.

Arts Festival

On Tuesday, 7th December the Upper School Arts Festival Finalists performed flawlessly to a packed audience of parents and students. The combination of dance, music, song, poetry and drama made for an entertaining evening with performances from students in Form 5 through to Form 12.

Interactive Performance ‘A Floresta d’Água’

On the 29th of November 2010 Lower School travelled to ‘Casa da Música’ in Porto to watch the performance ‘A Floresta d’Água’ (The Water Forest).

Form 9 Assembly – Human Rights

On the 10th of December 2010 Form 9 held an assembly on Human Rights, exactly 62 years after the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Japan Week

On the 25th of November Reception, Form 1 and Form 2 travelled to the Almeida Garrett Library within the Crystal Palace Gardens in Porto to see the Arts of Japan exhibition, which was part of the Japan Week that took place in Porto between the 20th and the 25th of November.

1st Meeting of Gymnastic Sports

The Braga International School, as in previous years, was once again present at the ‘1º Encontro de Desportos Gímnicos’ (1st Meeting of Gymnastic Sports). This event took place throughout the morning of Saturday 11st of December, at the ‘Pavilhão da Escola Secundária Alberto Sampaio’ (Alberto Sampaio Secondary School Pavilion), in Braga.

Form 7 - Christmas dinner and cinema

On the 16th of Deccember, Form 7 celebrated the Christmas season with a dinner and a trip to the cinema.

Pedagogical Farm

On the 18th of November Reception and Form 2 went to spend the day at “Quinta Pedagógica de Pindela” (pedagogical farm).

Once again CLIB is mobilising to help BANCO ALIMENTAR in Braga!

We went to the Theater

The Nursery classes went to the Theater to watch the play “John and the Bean Stalk”.

Field trip to the Alto-Lindoso dam

The very first step of the problem based learning week, to take place in January, actually started Tuesday, December the 14th, with the field trip that our form 9s had to the Alto-Lindoso dam.

School trip to the Assembly of the Republic

In order to celebrate the Centenary of the Portuguese Republic, a school trip was organised to the Assembly of the Republic, which included a guided tour of S. Bento Palace and a viewing of the plenary session, where the much talked about «State Budget» was being discussed.

Cross-Country

The Cross-Country event that occurred throughout the morning of the 26th of November 2010 took place at the Vila Verde sports center and various Upper School students from Forms 5 to 11 participated.

Science Week U M

Last Friday the 26th of November our forum students went to the Universidade do Minho for a day plenty of scientific activities

Traditional 'Magusto'

This year, at CLIB, we celebrated 'Magusto' in the traditional way, respecting, in a symbolic manner, the old tradition of roasting chestnuts on an open fire.

Nursery Assembly 25th of November

The Preprep and Prep classes presented an assembly which consisted of two parts, an english story and a portuguese song.In the first part, six of the children acted out the story of "The Gingerbread Man".

Puppets

On Wednesday 10th November, Form 1 visited the Museu de Arte da Marioneta in Viana do Castelo. The
weather was fine and the children enjoyed a wonderful, educational visit.

«Little Monsters», the Musical

Form 2 and Form 3 students performed the first Musical of the year «Little Monsters».

On the 29th of October Forms 5 and 6 received a visit from the author M do Céu Nogueira

who is from Braga, as part of their Portuguese curriculum.

Harvest Festival

On Thursday afternoon, 14th October 2010, Lower School gathered once again for their annual Harvest celebration. This year's festival was particularly special as it was the first to take place in our new gym. It was hard to imagine that this time last year, it hadn't even been finished!

From Monarchy to Republic…

In order to prepare for the celebrations of the “Centenary of the Portuguese Republic”, Form 3 were given an unprecedented and original task: to create “Identity Cards” for kings that played important roles in the history of Portuguese royalty.

Celebrating the centenary of the Portuguese Republic

In order to celebrate the centenary of the Republic, CLIB organised a lecture, entitled “Republic, Dream or Reality?”, at 5pm on Friday the 1st of October, with Doctor José Marques Fernandes, who belongs to the Philosophy and Culture Department of Minho University.

“Auto da Barca do Inferno” by Gil Vicente

On the 8th of November, Form 9 students had the opportunity to go and watch “Auto da Barca do Inferno” by Gil Vicente. The play was staged by the theatre company “Actus”, in the Youth Institute auditorium.

Trip to Lisbon

On Friday the 8th of October, Form 3 and Form 4 participated in an exciting trip to Lisbon.

BRAMUN

BRAMUN, the Braga Model United Nations, was a phenomenal success. Three resolutions with outstanding quality were written and all delegates proved to be well documented, thoroughly prepared and determined to find solutions for three of the major world problems at present: climate change, HIV/AIDS and discrimination against women.

Trip to Miranda do Douro

On Tuesday 19th October Forms 3 and 4 went on an overnight trip to Miranda do Douro.

After a very long coach ride, the children were enthusiastic about the adventures that lay ahead.

Trip to Citânia de Briteiros

To complement the History curriculum, a school trip related to the Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods was organised, in order to consolidate and extend what the content covered by the students at school.

Alchoolism prevention

On this last 17th, our school had the pleasure to have among us Inês Sá Mendes, psychologist and investigator from Universidade do Minho, who was kind enough to participate in our weekly assembly to talk about something that is of paramount importance in our communities today: alcoholism prevention.

CLIB is an Eco-School!!!!

Last Friday, September 24, our school went to Ourém to be awarded by the International Eco-Schools program, coordinated by the European Blue Flag.

European Heritage Walks

The morning of the 24th of September was rainy and gloomy and threatened the materialisation of the peddy-paper, part of the European Heritage Walks, organised by Braga City Council.

Book Fair (books in English)

It is essential that all of our students read books in English as reading will help to improve both their written and oral work through greater familiarity with sentence structures and increased exposure to vocabulary.

Team Building and Leadership Training - 17 to 19 September 2010

Students in Forms 9 to 12 took part in our annual team building and leadership weekend in the Peneda-Gerês National Park.

Cross generational contact

Form 4 had the privilege of welcoming Sidónio’s Grandfather, Colonel Sidónio Silva to one of their final History lessons of the Term and it was with great enthusiasm that he imparted to the students his experience and knowledge of life in the military whilst in Guiné post the revolution of 25 April.

Science Week

As usual, CLIB hosted during the last days of the year, a very special week called Science Week.

Sports Day

"SPORTS DAY" was held throughout the morning of June 28, 2010, at the Sports Complex Rodovia and was composed of numerous sporting activities, where the motto was to win: to be faster, jump farther; jump higher and be stronger.

On 2nd June, Form 4 had a very special P.E. lesson. We had a visit
from Fernando Meira, the Portuguese football star!

Party for Nursery Parents

On June 8th the Nursery classes, Pre Prep and Prep, presented a show for parents and family.

«Into the Woods» - The Musical

It was within the scope of the Performing Arts programme that the students in Forms 8, 9 and 10 accompanied by Diana Lopes from Form 11, in the role of the witch, took to the stage on the 30th June with the musical ‘Into the Woods’, a performance they dedicated to their graduating peers.

Medieval journey!

In order to consolidate their last academic unit, dedicated to the study of the romanic and gothic styles, Form 7 students went on a medieval journey, on the 23rd of June.

Portuguese Language competion

On the 15th of May, CLIB was very well represented by our student Maria Afonso (Form 2 student) in a competition organised by the Culturminho bookshop for '1º ciclo' students (Form 1 to Form 4).

CLIB'S glorious council!

On the 21st of Junho, Form 7 students prepared an assembly with the special presence of the Olympus Gods.

Voluntary Work - Banco Alimentar, Braga

As has become customary, students, teachers, and some parents were once again involved in the campaign to collect food stuff from Supermarkets in Braga as part of 'Banco Alimentar's' initiative in Braga on the 29th and 30th May.

Global Village Habitat for Humanity Mozambique

The Braga branch of Habitat for Humanity organised a very successful trip to Mozambique as part of their Global Village project and with the participation of CLIB was a great success.

Teatro Reflexo - "Sherazade, the Storyteller"

On the 18th of May students in Pre-Prep to Form 7 were treated to a visit by the theatre company Reflexo. Three actors, two women and a man, played different parts in the play "Sherazade, the Storyteller".

22nd May - Day of Celebration

A group of CLIB students made their first Communion in the S. José de Cluny church on the 22nd May.

International Children's Day in Aveiro

In celebration of International Children's Day on Tuesday, 1st June, all of the students of CLIB's Lower School spent the day in Aveiro.

Education at palace

CLIB and the Biscainhos Museum celebrated International Museum Day together. Students from Forms 5, 6 and 8 developed a flawless recreation of various XVIII century learning moments.

Journey through Portuguese History!

On the 25th of May, students in Forms 4 and 5 enjoyed an incredible journey through Portuguese History!

Roman games

It was with an enormous pleasure that I accompanied students of forms 5, 6 and 7 to the museum D.Diogo de Sousa in order to participate in the second edition of the Roman board games!

“Beatriz and the Plane Tree” by Ilse Losa

In the last few weeks, Form 3 have been exploring the book “Beatriz and the Plane Tree” by Ilse Losa, which alerts its readers to the importance of looking after our forests, by telling a story about the deep friendship between a girl and a 100 year old plane tree.

100 Lessons

100 lessons are 100 moments of learning, and such a moment will always be celebrated with joy and satisfaction.

Monastic life in Form 7 lessons

In History, Form 7 students studied monastic life in the Middle ages.

London Trip

On Thursday, 29th April, during a break in the Ash cloud over the UK, Form 8
students from CLIB, CLIC and CLIP took part in the coolest trip ever, to
London, organised by CLIB.

INEM at CLIB

On 22nd April 2010, we had some special visitors in Lower School assembly. An INEM medical team, made up of a doctor and a nurse, came to speak to us about the work that they do in Portugal.

Charity Run

In response to the request made by the “Doctors of the World”, CLIB has organised a charity run for the children of East Timor and Portugal.

Upper School Open Evening

Upper school teachers and students came together on the 14th April to perform to parents different activities and skills developed in school.

LTR Restaurant Project

LTR students open 10 fabulous restaurants at CLIB last term. It was a successful and tasty experience.

Alice in Wonderland

On 26th March, Form 4 students amazed and entralled spectators at CLIB with their musical
production of "Alice in Wonderland".

Trip to the Monastery of Tibães

On the 24 March the students of Forms 5 and 7, as part of their study of monastic life, participated in an educational visit to the Monastery of Tibães.

Geography Fieldwork - Gerês

Form 10 students carried out fieldwork in Gerês in order to develop fundamental geographical skills for the upcoming IGCSE exam.

Walk for Mozambique

Trip to the ballet

On Wednesday the 10th of March, Pre Prep up to Form 3 went on a trip to Santa Maria da Feira to see the ballet "Menina de Pedra".

Trip to the Galeria Mario Sequeira in Tibães

The trip to the Galeria Mario Sequeira in Tibães was a great success. The gallery reinforced the learning covered, in regard to sculptors, and the staff at the gallery were very helpful.

Form 3 Ancient Egypt

In topic lessons, Form 3 have been learning about Ancient Egypt. We learned lots of interesting facts about Egypt.

Division 4 girls have impressed everyone with their basketball skills and won their first basketball game outside school.

T-shirts for Mozambique

On the 2nd and 3rd of March, in both Lower and Upper School, we found a lot of lively activity, jars and paintbrushes, hands and overalls covered in paint and plenty of enthusiasm…

All CLIB students were given a white t-shirt, which they were asked to paint with a message of friendship, to give to children in Mozambique.

CLIB dramatises “900- The Story of a King” by Pedro Seromenho as part of its Medieval Carnival party

On the 12th February past the entire CLIB community united for the celebration of a very special medieval carnival. The theme for this evening of festivity was provided by Pedro Seromenho's book “900 - The Story of a King” which re-tells the story of D. Afonso Henriques.

Medieval Castle

Form 5 have been developing a cross-curricular project which involves building a medieval castle.

Ulisses

As part of their work on “Ulisses” by Maria Alberta Menéres, Form 6 completed a group project which involved constructing a model, where the hard journey of the Greek hero was mapped.

RTP Contest

On the 28th of January, three Form 6 students, Inês, Daniela and Carlos, participated in “Speak, Write, Get it Right and Win”, a new RTP contest about the Portuguese language.

"Life Cycles of Flowering Plants"

In Form 4, we have been carrying out a seed investigation for our new topic, "Life Cycles of Flowering Plants".

André Roque brings to CLIB lecture on Astronomy

On the 22th of January a young scientist, André Roque, was in CLIB in order to arouse students' interest in the subject of the “Origin of the Universe”.

Form 1 Assembly - Science

On 27th January, in Lower School Assembly, Form 1 students carried out an interesting experiment for all to see. Mr Hallam and the students showed all of Lower School how to make volcanoes!

In memoriam

Wednesday the 13th of January is a day which will remain in the hearts and minds of everybody in the CLIB community but especially our students of Forms 6 and 7.

Season's greetings to all patients in Braga Hospital

During the afternoon of the 24th of December a group of volunteers set off for Braga Hospital on a very special mission. Each member of the group was weighed down with a small bag, each one with a special yuletide greeting.

Carol Service

This took place on the 17th of December. It is without doubt one of the high points in the school calendar and it always signals an emotional end to the autumn term.

Grandparents tell Christmas stories

On the morning of the 14th of December a group of grandparents returned to school. They had come to tell Christmas stories. They went from room to room in both the nursery and the lower school, books in hand, where they were met with great expectation and enthusiasm.

Coffee Mornings... open lessons for parents and guardians

From the 9th to the 11th of December CLIB welcomed parents and guardians for the habitual Coffee Mornings. These are open lessons where parents are welcomed into the classrooms to observe and even participate.

Visit to Mosteiro da Batalha

The Portuguese Studies department organized a visit to the Aljubarrota Interpretation Centre and to the Batalha Monastery, on the 11th of December.

Getting together

Both the Portuguese and History teachers and Form 8 had the opportunity of experiencing something a bit different, on the 7th of December – a joint dinner and cinema outing.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

On the 29th of November, classes from Prep to Form 10 were able to go to the Rivoli Theatre, in Porto, to watch Filipe La Féria's musical "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", based on the homonymous piece of literature written by the American author Lyman Frank Baum.

Supporting Banco Alimentar

On 28th and 29th November more than one hundred students, teachers, staff and families of CLIB actively participated as volunteers in the Banco Alimentar campaign in Braga.

Grandparents were invited to surprise their grandchildren and join them for a lunch at school.

South Africa

Form 4 has established a special correspondence with a school in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Constitution explained to young people

The Constitution was the topic of a heated debate, on the ninth of this month, between the Form 6 students and Dr.ª Ana Cristina Pinheiro, lawyer and mother of student Inês Pimentel.

Harvest Festival

The morning of 2nd October was a damp and foggy one in Braga. We were all flush with excitement in Lower School as we prepared to celebrate another Harvest Festival.

Kindness Week

On November 13th, CLIB gathered all of the school community to present the new school installations.
The renovations started in August with the creation of new classrooms, a new and better equipped music room and a gymnasium.

BRAMUN - The Braga Model United Nations

The first ever Braga Model United Nations was a true success. The calibre of the resolutions, the quality of the debate and the relevance of all interventions contributed to make the whole experience a valuable and unforgettable mark in our students' lives.

Visit to the 'Museu dos Biscainhos'

The Baroque style is a significant part of the Portuguese cultural history and students in Form 6 have been studying it with enthusiasm. This culminated in a visit on November 4th to the 'Museu dos Biscainhos'.

Visit to the " Museu D. Diogo de Sousa"

On the 22nd of October, Form 4 students took part in a school trip to the D. Diogo de Sousa Museum, in order to see the diverse collection exhibited, as well as to participate in an original and enriching presentation and workshop about the activities and instruments from both Prehistory and Protohistory.

Pre-historic Journey

On the 9th of this month, Forms 5 and 7 ‘travelled to’ the pre-historic era and took part in various memorable activities that enhanced their knowledge of this historical period.

Over the last two weeks Form 8 students have been working on a project in Portuguese and History, which aimed to celebrate the foundation of the Portuguese Republic.

Halloween

On Friday the 23rd of October Lower School, including Nursery, celebrated Halloween, as has become tradition in CLIB. All the children, and several teachers, came to school in appropriately spooky costumes.

European Day of Languages

To mark the "European Day of Languages", which is celebrated on the 26th of September, Form 8 and 9 students participated, enthusiastically, in various experimental activities, organised by the Languages and Humanities Department at Minho University.

Our annual commencement ceremony for our Prep and Form 4 students took place on Thursday, 29th June at 18h00 at CLIB.

On 29th June 2009, the MPR was buzzing with excitement. Commencement had just finished and the crowd of CLIB parents, friends and staff were eagerly awaiting Form 4's musical production of “Oliver”.

UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) Conference Trip

On the 26th June, CLIB Form 11 students set off to England. The main purpose of the trip was to visit the UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) conference being held in Bath University, with a predicted attendance of 5000 students from the UK and abroad.

Internal Model United Nations- BRAMUN

The Internal BRAMUN was, once again, a massive success. Our students are becoming experts in this celebrated academic activity.

Award for International understanding ECIS

Ana Miguel Cruz has been nominated to receive the ECIS Award for
International Understanding in June 2009. We warmly congratulate her
on this achievement.

Roman games

As part of the Braga Romana festivities Museu Diogo de Sousa also organised a recreation of Roman games. These games consisted of both physical and mental tests with a special emphasis on Mathematical challenges. Our Form 5 and 6 participated very successfully in these games.

Work Experience

Here at CLIB we develop a project, based upon pedagogical and philosophical principles, that aims at promoting and valuing work.

West Side Story

On the 17 and 18 December at the Auditorio Vita was presented an adaptation of the musical West Side Story, performed by our Performing Arts students under the directorship of Mrs Beck.

World Day for Cultural Diversity

On 18 May 2009 Upper School students had an assembly to commemorate UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity, focusing on Languages and Multilingualism, a pillar of Cultural Diversity.

World Red Cross Day

In order to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Red Cross, on 4 May 2009, CLIB welcomed with open arms Dr. Francisco Alvim.

Science Week

CLIB held its annual science fair on Thursday, 26th March. Each Upper School student adopted the role of a scientist and designed a fun and interesting science project using the scientific method of inquiry to solve a problem.

The Goths invade CLIB!

On the 23th of April form 7 students presented their work within the project “The Goths”. They revealed eloquence, excellent communication skills and total understanding of the academic topics.

Lesson nr. 100 - Form 5

On the 21st of April Form 5 has celebrated their lesson number 100, for the simple reason that 100 lessons mean 100 different learning moments.

On the 18th-20th March, Lower School held coffee afternoons. For the first time, parents were invited to visit lessons after lunch.

OPOMUN - International Diplomats of the Future

Last weekend was a memorable one for some of our students. The occasion was the second annual OPOMUN (Porto Model United Nations).

School trip to Eça de Queirós' house in Tormes

On the 25th of March Form 9 went on a field trip to the historical village of Tormes, a place which Eça de Queirós made famous in his literary work “A Cidade e as Serras”.

Golden Table is an exciting new reward system for Lower School students. It began in the autumn term.

Trip to Lisbon: Assembleia da República & “The human body as you have never seen it before.”

On the 19th of October 2007 the students of Forms 6-10 participated in an educational trip to the capital Lisbon. This trip proved to be extremely beneficial for both the History and the Science curriculum.

Mandarin Lessons

The Braga International School welcomed professor Sun Lam from the Confucius Institute, at the Minho University to the school on Monday, 15 October for the inaugural lesson of this academic year.

Form 9 students have recently carried out scientific fieldwork following specific geographical methodologies.
