Science Week
CLIB held its annual science fair on Thursday, 26th March. Each Upper School student adopted the role of a scientist and designed a fun and interesting science project using the scientific method of inquiry to solve a problem.
This event was an excellent opportunity to bring the entire school community together and create a rich environment where we learn together, having fun with the new discoveries of our young scientists.

SCIENCE LAND

Upper school students organized an activity for which their mission was to arouse the natural curiosity of the lower school students, motivating them to understand scientific facts and to develop scientific thinking based on exploring and testing ideas.

Science Land took place on the afternoons of 23rd and 24th March, and each lower school class had the chance to do the following activities: flubber, static electricity, under the microscope, chlorophyll extraction and magic reaction. Events of this nature help younger students turn their ideas into reality and their curiosity into creativity.

ECO- SCHOOL PROJECT

We are living in a time where an increased responsibility to develop a sustainable lifestyle, in which each individual must consider the environmental and social impact of her/his choices, is demanded. As the objective of our school is to develop responsible and socially aware citizens, an environmental education is fundamental and this is why CLIB is now part of the network of eco-schools, a program promoted by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) that aims to teach the school community everyday attitudes that are environmentally friendly. However, in order to merit and maintain the status of an eco-school, it is compulsory that we meet the requirements by the national coordination, which will imply the effort and the cooperation of the whole community. As members of this school we need to change our attitude towards the environment, by recycling more, reducing the amount of materials used and reusing items destined for landfill that can easily be repaired or combined with other materials to make new, functional products. During this academic year CLIB is involved in different activities that will help us to achieve the title of Eco-School. Remember that by doing small things we can make our world a better place.

Prep Project – Recycling and Environment

Vermicomposting in the School:

Vermicomposting is the process of using worms to process organic food waste into nutrient-rich soil. Worms eat decaying food waste and produce vermicompost, a very effective soil amendment. Worm poop is the best compost! It is full of beneficial microbes and nutrients, and is a great plant fertilizer. As environmental friendly school, CLIB faced the challenge of implement this activity in the school in order to achieve to main goals: explain that is possible to recycle organic materials from our canteen and to teach various concepts to your students, like natural cycles and nutrition, while making it fun and interactive.
