A group of brave young basketball players set out on a journey last November 19, 2008.
For some these were uncharted waters, for others it was an opportunity to relive experiences from the past and demonstrate their progress and enthusiasm.
“Our boys” fought against all odds and demonstrated that where there is a will there is a way. CLIB’s boys basketball teams showed all their enthusiasm and effort. They played hard and fair to accomplish their goals. To have fun, to become better players, to work as a team and to win.
Winning isn’t everything. They didn’t win all the games. Nevertheless, they have become better basketball players and better people, realistic and humble. They are now better prepared and have a better understanding of losing and winning.
Accepting loses is as important as accepting victories. Our students have learnt this and progressed immensely. We have all progressed tremendously in many fields during this past year. Being part of these tournaments is very important. “Our” children become more independent, responsible and autonomous.
This event also confirmed one other extremely important fact: the extraordinary progress of “our” boys in basketball. We played really well in all the games. Considering some difficulties, not having substitutes or playing with younger players in higher divisions, in most of the games the result was uncertain until the last few seconds.
And we won two games. We finished in 7th place (out of 8 teams) in divisions 3 and 5. These are a considerable improvement in comparison to previous achievements.
CLIB is proud of both the work that it has been developing with our students and the results accomplished.
All the hard work and sacrifices have paid off and everyone can see the results. |
