On October 16, 2008, World Food Day, a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and inform our society about different issues related to this extremely important issue, our pupils took the opportunity to visit the exhibition “Meninos Gordos” (Fat Kids) in “Museu Nogueira da Silva”, Braga. This is a story about two young and very fat children, Mateus and Ana, who visited several southern European countries, including Portugal in particular the city of Braga, around 1842, and their life experiences at this time. They obviously became “famous” because of their physical appearance, especially because they were tremendously overweight. In a relaxed and fun atmosphere, the students had the chance to learn about an interesting occurrence from the 19th century in their home town, as well as consolidate academic content.
Fruit and vegetables are essential to have a healthier lifestyle. Therefore, on October 17, CLIB organised an assembly for the school community to enlighten its members. With the help of a nutritionist it was possible to explain certain concepts related to this topic, mainly about fruit and vegetables and the advantages that they bring into our lives. For the most part of the assembly we focused on the 5 A DAY campaign.
