| School trip to Eça de Queirós' house in Tormes |
|
| On the 25th of March Form 9 went on a field trip to the historical village of Tormes, a place which Eça de Queirós made famous in his literary work “A Cidade e as Serras”. |
|
Travelling by train from Braga to Stª Cruz do Douro, this activity granted the students different experiences, allowing them to walk the path of ‘Jacinto’ and at the same time appreciate the beautiful landscape of the ‘Douro’ as they climbed the steep mountain until they reached the writer’s house-museum.
Once at this unique place, the pupils had the opportunity to come in contact with personal belongings of the Portuguese writer from the 19th century and family descendents.
Hence, and once again, reading as an essential and pleasurable activity has been encouraged, valuing inevitable national personalities that make up our precious literary heritage. |
