This conference gathered representatives of the great majority of UK universities, as well as organizations related to gap years and voluntary work, with the objective of providing the extra information students might need to make their final university choices.
However, the trip also involved visits to 5 UK universities, in 3 different cities: Bath and Bath Spa Universities in Bath, Bristol University and the University of the West of England in Bristol and Warwick University in Coventry.
These visits served a number of purposes, the most important ones being that the students were able to get in touch with UK university life, as well as getting a feel for the English culture and way of life. For those interested in spending their entire university years in the UK, this was particularly important.
The UCAS conference trip was focused entirely on providing the students with a real university experience, by giving them autonomy, and by encouraging them to eat, sleep and find entertainment in places where university students would, always on a budget. It is certain that the trip not only provided the best feel for university life and universities in the UK, therefore aiding the students’ university decisions, but also a light-hearted, leisurely environment where everyone enjoyed themselves. |
