CLIB students participated in the Iberian Model United Nations in Lisbon.

The event was a total success.

Our students were up to the task and made us all very proud. Devin Beck, believing the Peruvian delegate was making something up, asked him a question that made him blush of embarrassment! Ana Rita Tavares impressed everyone with her ability to prepare a fantastic speech in about 8 minutes! Gerónimo Faria, in a period of crisis, gathered all the European Union delegates and imposed his will! Beatriz Borges was sharp and ruthless; she wouldn?t let anyone ask her questions! In a way, they all did very well.

It was amazing seeing them develop diplomatic skills such as reading and enquiring about the assigned nations and researching the issues on the agenda. Most impressing was actually their surprising ability to formulate policies and to prepare written policy statements based on sound knowledge derived from the research. One thing is for sure, we will be back next year for more.
