It was a wonderful and hot day!
We left school in the morning and as soon as we arrived, we saw a demonstration on birds of prey. We learned about the differences between birds who live at night and the ones who live during the day: what they eat, where they live and how they hunt. The children where amazed with a falcon who flew over our heads. Later, we went for a walk to see wild animals from different continents. We saw Spider Monkeys, Kangaroos, Ostriches and some Portuguese Crows who said: "Olá!".
It was hot and everyone was anxious for the picnic. Under some trees, in the picnic area, the children opened their bags and ate all the good treats from home. They were so tasty!
We still had more animals to see, as tigers and pigmea hippos, so after lunch we went for another walk. We passed by a beautiful lake with lots of ducks and swans, we visited the Insect House and the Reptile House. From time to time we needed to rest in small shelters, where we could drink fresh water from a fountain and get away from the heat. At last we arrived at the farm where we saw animals the children knew very well: pigs, hens, a pony, etc. We rested for a while as we ate a snack. Then it was time to leave, so we came to school in a big bus. It was a day filled of joy and many learning experiences about Animal Life. |
