World Day for Cultural Diversity On 18 May 2009 Upper School students had an assembly to commemorate UNESCO’s World Day for Cultural Diversity, focusing on Languages and Multilingualism, a pillar of Cultural Diversity. Based on CLIB’s cultural diversity and multilingualism, Form 6 students presented a variety of details in their own language about different countries which they are related to directly or indirectly. Hence, these students had the opportunity to understand and transmit the rich diversity and intrinsic cultural value of features such as language, clothing, food and numerous traditions from all four corners of the world from Portugal, to Russia, to Nepal, to Brazil, to many other European countries. This cultural journey ended with a mouth-watering feast of typical dishes from each of the represented countries which everyone had a change to taste. In a delicious and fun way, the students learned to respect and appreciate their own and others’ cultures. Back
