| Parents' Council |
|
| The parents are the first and utmost important participants in the education of a child. So, they perform a crucial role not only in choosing a school (in which they trust) for their children but also every time they help them to learn. |
|
The children are more successful in their school life whenever parents and teachers work together.
Parents participate in the daily life of the school through the Council of Parents, which is a consultative body constituted by representatives of all parents of students enrolled at CLIB. The Council of Parents will be constituted according to the following process:
- One parent representative and one alternate are elected per Form to serve on this Council for a period of two years;
- If a vacancy occurs, the elected alternate member assumes the representative’s position for the remainder of the term;
- Families with more than one child in school may become candidates for Form Representative in only one Form;
- This election takes place in the last two weeks of September during a Form Meeting convened for this effect;
- Nominations are made from the floor and the election is by secret ballot;
- Within two weeks of the election, the Form representatives elect their officers: President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer;
- The representation of minority groups in the Council of Parents should be as proportionate as possible to that of the student body;
- To ensure proper representation of national / ethnic / linguistic minority groups, the Principal may appoint up to 5 representatives from such groups.
The Council of Parents is responsible for:
- Establishing effective communication channels between the college and parents;
- Proposing to the Principal any proposals they deem necessary to the well-running of the college;
- Providing feedback on all proposals and issues presented to the Council;
- Preparing, in conjunction with the Principal, all programs related to parents’ training and development;
- Assisting faculty and administration in carrying out their extra-curricular activities;
- Participating, when appropriate, in the evaluation of curricular and extra-curricular programs;
- Serving as general support to parents in the educational process of their children.
